The Dream

What Is OHMI?

OHMI is many things. OHMI is the land of the dreamers, the kingdom of passion, the birthplace of ideas, the sanctuary for the rejected. OHMI is more than just a place, though - it is an idea, and a dream in itself.

When did OHMI begin?

The name OHMI began in late 2015 as what was supposed to be the placeholder name for a fusion between two ponysonas. The name ended up sticking and in 2017, became the name of a dream that crossed worlds.

Do you believe in dreams?

The First Dream

The first dream of OHMI was to meet.

In late 2014, somewhere in the corners of a pony roleplay community on Google+, two Markiplier fans met for the first time in a comment section. One was from Ohio, and the other was from Michigan. And so began their friendship, stemming from a shared interest in a flannel gamer who proclaimed himself the king of Five Nights at Freddy's, and pastel equine characters from a TV show.

This friendship stood strong in its early days, for several months. It had a sliver that grew into a cut in the early months of 2015, one that drove both to a rage that would start wars. The tension between the North and the South was lined with bitterness and the feeling of betrayal, neither of which was justified. A few more cold months passed before a mutual friend finally stepped in as their bind once more. The truce was made, and so began once more the shenanigans of pink mustaches and ponified YouTube celebrities.

The year progressed, with playful rivaling lines drawn during the fabled College Football Season, where the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry reigned supreme. Eventually, that year too, came to a close. 2016 was moving forward without a hitch - but with an added shared interest. A screenshot from Tiffany gained Malia's attention - an updating League of Legends client. Malia had once picked up the game, but couldn't find a consistent interest in it. Now, with a friend to join her, she had a reason.

Through the year of 2016, the OHMI duo played game after game, queuing together in the bot lane as Jinx and Lux, never settling for another lane or being denied the chance to burn bright. They marched down the lane with eyes set on victory, always matching in some way. By November, the match had spiraled into its own entity. The OHMI duo had gone from duo to couple, and they weren't keen on being beat in a match.

A tragedy struck the core of OHMI on New Year's Eve that year. The OHMI couple was gone, and by the looks of it, so was the duo as a whole. Accounts were blocked by the wall of a dark stigma surrounding the ordeal, and all attempts at communication failed. All until they finally talked indirectly, not on the same platform, but they managed. Blue resided on their earlier home of Google+. Red stood guard on the edges of a twitter character limit. And so violet words made their way across platforms, finally without the black smoke that once relentlessly followed.

Several months later, it was officially over. The bad blood between them had evaporated into lilac clouds that now watched over the two. It was time to rekindle a dream that dated all the way back to 2016 - to make characters for League of Legends. But they had a different idea in mind now. Why be limited to four abilities and two summoner spells, six items and one trinket? Why not have five abilities, three summoner spells, eight items and two trinkets? The gears started to whir, and then it was settled. Rather than just make characters for League, they decided they would make an entire new game, independent of the Riot Games name.

They churned out stories, concepts, skins, cinematics, and soon, the entire world in which this new game would take form. They crafted ideas to go beyond any typical game, and to break the very idea of boundaries and limits as they went. As the concepts flooded discord direct messages, so did the realization. All of this stemmed from a dream. A dream to prove the unbelievers wrong, to prove that passion wasn't a barrier of profit, to prove that experience and professionalism weren't necessary to begin, to prove that dreams could come true.

They proved this already, too. Despite past splits and a geographical border between them, they fulfilled one of their earliest shared dreams that could be traced back to when they first met - to meet in real life. On 8/18/18, they did exactly that at the Loving Touch venue in Royal Oak, Michigan. They came for the concert, to watch NateWantsToBattle and Zach Callison jam on the stage - and by doing so, they proved that OHMI was going to last forever, and that the dream that they had set their violet hearts to would succeed.

Through dissociation, through breaks, through romance, through hate.

With voices, with paint, with violet, with fate.

For dreamers, by dreamers.

Make it happen.

Make it real.

The Philosophy of OHMI

OHMI is more than a name, more than a place, more than just two states' abbreviations mashed together. OHMI is a promise.

Obligation to oneself to pursue their dreams.

Hybridization of different talents and passions.

Materialization of what people believe in.

Immortalization of the world that those dreams, passions and beliefs created.

OHMI is the land of the dreamers - past, present and future.

OHMI begins with the dreamers and ends when the alarm of rejection and disapproval goes off. Who says we have to set that alarm just to tell ourselves we won't amount to what we want to be?

You can join the OHMI rebellion. To break the stereotype and revolutionize everything you've ever known. Let your dreams lift you up and set you free, no matter how much those around you try to bring you down.

Your dream matters to us.

If we don't have a place for you at OHMI, we make one.

So tell me.
